Daily Journal – May 12, 2017

This is my 50th journal.

Today marks the day where I focus on output until it was almost time to go home.

For the journal today, I will just issue a quick update. I like to use the Friday night to rest properly. Example: play some games

So what did I do today?

My manager and I worked together to draft an email to summarize a meeting that we had yesterday with the customer. I drafted it, he reviewed it and I edited it. Then I sent it out.

Next, I went on to follow up with the UI guy to check on his progress and ensure that he is up to date on what is required of him.

Then I went on to do my stuff, which is to implement the backend services for the API Management Portal. I finished 60% of the core backend codes, the part where it do the transformation of data while interacting with the Kong Admin APIs. I’m just left with the following parts:
1. The frontend interfaces, basically, the servlets
2. The filters to do handle Single Sign On
3. The integration with the actual UI

I also manage to draft out the JSON specification for the UI guy for him to integrate. I told him that I expect the result by the end of the day. So let’s see.

Then I did a sync up with my manager again on a specific change request where I identified the tasks needed and the estimated time needed to implement the changes. Of course there was the issue of whether the customer can get back to us on the commercial side of things. Well, we don’t do anything until they pay up. So in the meantime, I will have to focus on learning how to work with the ETL tools. I did have a knowledge transfer session with one of my colleague regarding that, I hope I am able to handle it. As a senior, I think I’m kind of expected to.

I’m off to play some games.

Here I conclude my journal for today.
